Paper Cinema Tales with Nisha

Exploring aspects of theatre making, live performance, live streaming and micro short film making inspired by old cinema tickets with a core community group through free online introductory sessions that started in October, working towards and culminating in a finished artwork.

We now seek memories, open to all or particularly if you have memories of the 1920’s/1930’s movie palaces in Slough from The Palace, The Adelphi, The Ambassador and The Granada. You are welcome to participate remotely by preparing your response to the question below and send in via email, your written response and audio recording (of your written response). Mobile phone voice recorders are fine.

What is your earliest memory of going to the cinema, picture house or movie palace? And how did it make you feel?

For more info about the project please contact Nisha on [email protected]

Were you one of these people? Take this opportunity to record your memories of working in Slough. Get in touch with Mike for a chat about how you might contribute - by writing a short piece or perhaps making a recording.

Celebrating Our Cultural Past and Present Jigsaw with Fahima

27 - 29 October

1, 5, 12, 19 November

Sessions are held via Zoom - click for more details and booking

Join one or take part in them all!

Slough is a hotspot for cultural diversity and beauty, with a long and rich history stemming from the transport system built here.

In 1887 arches were built across Slough to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria and her reign, however the imperialism and colonialism that came with the British Empire left a deep mark on the countries and the people they exploited.

Our jigsaw instead celebrates all the colonies and the individual riches they brought with them put together, instead of just the rule of the British monarch, because in actuality it was us who made Britain what it is today.

Every session you will be sent a piece of this large jigsaw by post. Join us during an evening of your preferred time and bring any form of art you would like (paints, colouring pencils, pens and more) as we talk about this and get together to colour and create for an hour.
